Switch Case Chronicles
The Turturem is a species of animal, with an exterior which is often hidden by immense amounts of beautiful Honeysuckle and leaves, which grow as part of the creature. The Honeysuckle is a tool used by the Turturem in order to capture and eradicate prey. The Turturem itself looks quite like a lizard-like creature, with four hands used for climing and occasionally walking on the surface of the ground. The Turturem also has a small head, filled with exceptionally large teeth which are used in its food consumption. The Honeysuckle grow off the back of the Turturem, completely covering the creature from plain view unless it is moving. The Turturem often resides in trees, and although often being mistaken for a plant, is an animal, and a carnivorous one at that. From the trees, the Turturem is able to drop the Honeysuckle on passersby walking below, and as they land on the passersby, they inject a toxin. Within mere minutes, the prey will have been rendered completely immobile, and, if left for more than 15 minutes, the toxin will prove to be irreversibly fatal within the next few hours. Once the prey has been rendered useless, and the surrounding area is clear, the Turturem will climb down from its hiding place, and slowly devour the prey – usually while still alive, or within two hours of its death – hence gaining enough energy to keep it satisfied for up to two months, due to the severe lack of movement. It is important to note, that while well-fed and undisturbed, it is true that the Turturem moves very little, the Turturem is also capable of extremely fast movements in times of extreme peril or hunger. If disturbed during feeding, the Turturem has little beyond speed to defend itself. If one member of the species is killed, it will make a sound unheard to most humanoid ears, and this will alert others to its murder. In all likelihood, the person who did the murdering will be tracked by the surrounding Turturem, and injected with enough toxin to kill several whales.
